ExxonMobil neo acids exhibit high branched structures in which the carboxylic group is attached to a quaternary carbon atom.
The high steric hindrance provided by the neo acid structure imparts excellent thermal and hydrolytic stability. The acids can be used as corrosion inhibiters in lubricants.
