ADDITIN® CI

In tribological systems corrosion cannot be avoided and must be prevented by appropriate additivation. The Additin® Corrosion Inhibition (CI) range includes ash-containing and ash-free products to inhibit corrosion.
The Additin® CI range offers a number of desirable charac-teristics: Excellent corrosion inhibition Demulsibility in hydraulic oils Antiwear performance in gear oils Water resistance in greases detergency in engine oils.
Corrosion inhibition additives in the Additin® CI range, such as synthetic calcium alkyl benzene sulfonates, are adsorbed on the polar metal surface to form a water-repellent and protective film, thereby effectively reducing corrosion.
Certain acidic fumes, such as sulfur dioxide, are well known for their accelerating effect on corrosion. To neutralize their impact, Additin® CI products are recommended for all applications in highly aggressive environments. They are equipped with additional alkaline reserves to neutralize any fumes contributing to corrosion.

Oil based
Additin RC 4220

Additin RC 4220 (M 10451) can be used as an anticorrosion additive where barium compounds are not desired. Its anticorrosion effect can be compared to analogous barium compounds. Additin RC 4220 (M 10451) is ideally suited for formulating hydraulic fluids for which good hydrolytical and thermal stability as well as outstanding demulsifying and anticorrosion properties are required.
Hydraulic fluids containing Additin RC 4220 (M 10451) exhibit excellent filterability. Additionally Additin RC 4220 (M 10451) has proved good success in engine oils with extraordinary corrosion protection requirements. Additin RC 4220 (M 10451) can also be used as an excellent corrosion inhibitor in greases.

Additin RC 4211
Additin RC 4211 is a non-staining, low odour and Barium free anticorrosion additive giving excellent results on severe long term storage, in the salt spray cabinet and in Kesternich cabinet (alternating and constant climates). Solvent based rust preventatives based on Additin RC 4211 are forming homogenous and stable waxy protection layers; due to its very strong thixotropic properties the typical treat level of Additin RC 4211 on this type of application is much lower compared to other anticorrosion additives. Mineral oil based rust preventatives based on Additin RC 4211 are showing high stability protection layers and less draining-off on long term storage. Additin RC 4211 surpasses the performance of conventional Barium type products. Additin RC 4211 is a soft waxy solid at ambient temperature. However it can be easily liquified if heated at 50°C .
Due to its strong adsorption on metal surfaces and its hydrophobic character, Additin RC 4211 cannot be easily removed by mild alkaline washing (acc. to Volkswagen test VW 52.02). However, the cleaning operation can be done successfully with stronger waterbased cleaners or with cleaners based on hydrocarbons.

Additin RC 4530
Additin RC 4530 is an anticorrosion additive with high performance. The product does not exhibit the antagonistic effect on performance commonly found when alternative anticorrosion additives are used with EP and AW additives. Due to its chemistry Additin RC 4530 is suitable to absorb traces of hydrogen sulphide that can be evolved by sulphur containing formulations. Additin RC 4530 is suitable to fulfill severe requirements in greases, i.g. Emcor test with salt water.

Additin RC 4580
Additin RC 4580 is a very effectice corrosion inhibitor and H2S scavenger. The product does not exhibit the antagonistic effect on performance commonly found when alternative metal-containing anticorrosion additives are used with EP additives. Due to its chemistry Additin RC 4580 is suitable to absorb traces of H2S that can be evolved by EP additives at higher temperatures.
Additin RC 4580 is also a very effective anticorrosion additive for greases.
Additin RC 4580 is suitable to fulfill severe requirements in greases, e.g. Emcor test with salt water.

Additin RC 4801
Additin RC 4801 is a succinic acid semi-ester. Due to its special chemical structure it acts as a particularly effective anticorrosion additive with excellent demulsifying properties. Additin RC 4801 can be used as corrosion inhibitor where metal-containing anticorrosion additives are not desired.
At higher treatment rates Additin RC 4801 can be used for the formulation of rust preventative oils. In these applications the anticorrosion properties of Additin RC 4801 exceeds the performance of standard calcium or barium sulphonates.

Additin RC 4802
Additin RC 4802 is a succinic acid derivative with an extremely low acid number. Due to its special chemical structure it acts as a particularly effective anticorrosion additive with excellent demulsifying properties.
Additin RC 4802 can be used as corrosion inhibitor where metal-containing anticorrosion additives are not desired and the TAN of semi-esters of succinic acids are too high.
At higher treat rates Additin RC 4802 can be used for the formulation of rust preventative oils. In these applications the anticorrosion properties of Additin RC 4802 exceed the performance of standard calcium or barium sulphonates.

Additin RC 4820
Additin® RC 4820 is an ashless anticorrosion additive which is showing positive effects on antiwear properties. Additin® RC 4820 provides outstanding anticorrosion performance in many different base fluids including natural and synthetic esters.
Additin® RC 4820 is in compliance with § 178.3570 according to U.S. Food and Drug administration regulations (lubricants with incidental food contact). This product is acceptable as an ingredient for use in lubricants with incidental food contact (HX-1) for use in and around food processing areas. The registration of this ingredient is for the use only as a corrosion inhibitor, or rust preventive at a level not to exceed 0.5 % percent by weight of the lubricant.
