ADDITIN® CI

Lanxess

In tribological systems corrosion cannot be avoided and must be prevented by appropriate additivation. The Additin® Corrosion Inhibition (CI) range includes ash-containing and ash-free products to inhibit corrosion.
The Additin® CI range offers a number of desirable charac-teristics: Excellent corrosion inhibition Demulsibility in hydraulic oils Antiwear performance in gear oils Water resistance in greases Detergency in engine oils
Corrosion inhibition additives in the Additin® CI range, such as synthetic calcium alkyl benzene sulfonates, are adsorbed on the polar metal surface to form a water-repellent and protective film, thereby effectively reducing corrosion.
Certain acidic fumes, such as sulfur dioxide, are well known for their accelerating effect on corrosion. To neutralize their impact, Additin® CI products are recommended for all applications in highly aggressive environments. They are equipped with additional alkaline reserves to neutralize any fumes contributing to corrosion.

Additin RC 4203

Additin RC 4203 is a non-staining, bariumfree anticorrosion additive giving excellent results in Kesternich cabinet (alternating and constant climates) and in the salt spray cabinet.
Additin RC 4203 shows superior solubility in high paraffinic base oils or aromatic-free solvents even at low temperatures. It was developed specifically for use in rust preventatives based on mineral oils or white spirits.
Additin RC 4203 surpasses the performance of conventional Barium type products. Additin RC 4203 has outstanding anticorrosive properties. In most cases temporary preservatives based on Additin RC 4203 can be removed by alkaline washing. Additin RC 4203 can also be used as a corrosion inhibitor in lubricating greases.
Additin RC 4203 is a thixotrope fluid. A higher treatment level of Additin
RC 4203 in oil can lead to a strong increase in viscosity. The viscosity is decreased by shear strain.
Not suitable for circulating systems.

Additin RC 4220
Additin RC 4220 (M 10451) can be used as an anticorrosion additive where barium compounds are not desired. Its anticorrosion effect can be compared to analogous barium compounds. Additin RC 4220 (M 10451) is ideally suited for formulating hydraulic fluids for which good hydrolytical and thermal stability as well as outstanding demulsifying and anticorrosion properties are required.
Hydraulic fluids containing Additin RC 4220 (M 10451) exhibit excellent filterability. Additionally Additin RC 4220 (M 10451) has proved good success in engine oils with extraordinary corrosion protection requirements. Additin RC 4220 (M 10451) can also be used as an excellent corrosion inhibitor in greases.

Additin RC 4242
Additin RC 4242 is mainly used as an extreme pressure additive with corrosion protection properties. Due to its high total base number, Additin RC 4242 is an excellent acid scavenger.

Additin RC 4810
Additin RC 4810 is an ashless, amine-free, high molecular weight anticorrosion additive based on natural raw materials. It shows outstanding anticorrosion properties in rape seed oil, esters and mineral oil and exceeds the properties of standard sodium-, calcium- or barium sulphonates. Different to most metal containing sulphonates, Additin RC 4810 outperforms also as a highly effective dewatering additive.
Additionally Additin RC 4810 exhibits high lubricity, antiwear and EP-properties. It is less volatile than typically used metal sulphonates.
Additin RC 4810 is non-staining and easily removable by solvents or mild alkaline cleaners/degreasers. Due to its water replacing properties Additin RC 4810 can even be used to improve the degreasability. The non-ionic structure of Additin RC 4810 prevents the formation of metal soaps in alkaline degreasers. Additin RC 4810 shows outstanding compatibility even with highly sensitive types of cataphoretic paints.

Additin RC 4820
Additin® RC 4820 is an ashless anticorrosion additive which is showing positive effects on antiwear properties. Additin® RC 4820 provides outstanding anticorrosion performance in many different base fluids including natural and synthetic esters.
Additin® RC 4820 is in compliance with § 178.3570 according to U.S. Food and Drug administration regulations (lubricants with incidental food contact). This product is acceptable as an ingredient for use in lubricants with incidental food contact (HX-1) for use in and around food processing areas. The registration of this ingredient is for the use only as a corrosion inhibitor, or rust preventive at a level not to exceed 0.5 % percent by weight of the lubricant.

Additin Rc 4302

Additin RC 4302 is suitable for formulating rust preventative and multipurpose anticorrosion oils.
This product acts as a co-emulsifier and is suitable for semi-synthetic metalworking formulations (emulsions). In most cases, temporary preservatives based on Additin RC 4302 can be easy removed by alkaline washing.

Additin RC 4801
Additin RC 4801 is a succinic acid semi-ester. Due to its special chemical structure it acts as a particularly effective anticorrosion additive with excellent demulsifying properties. Additin RC 4801 can be used as corrosion inhibitor
where metal-containing anticorrosion additives are not desired.
