ADDITIN® EP

Products in the Additin® Extreme-Pressure (EP) range are generally used as a backbone in the formulation of modern neat oil and water-based metalworking fluids as well as greas-es, transmission and slideway oils. Rhein Chemie Additives provides the right solution for any application and offers com-petent assistance for selecting the most suitable alternatives.
Additin® EP products chemically react with the metal surface to form a protective sulfur-containing film. This reduces direct metal-to-metal contact, thereby avoiding friction as well as material damage, e.g. damage caused by welding.
This product group was specially developed to meet the latest requirements of the lubricant oil industry and offers precisely the characteristics required in high-performance environments:
- Low-odor, light-colored additives with good solubility in many base fluids
- Multifunctional performance due to efficient friction reduction and anti-aging protection

Additin RC 2315

Additin RC 2315 is a light-coloured, inactive, low viscosity sulphur carrier with excellent EP properties. It has a universal application in numerous high quality formulations. Due to its special production process Additin RC 2315 is in combination with anitwear additives, e.g. Additin RC 3180 or Additin RC 3740 especially suitable for working of non-ferrous metals and aluminium alloys.
By virtue of specially selected raw material Additin RC 2315 exhibits a very low pour point (< 0°C) and extended solubility in v arious base fluids compared to conventional sulphur carriers. Therefore Additin RC 2315 is ideally suited for metalworking oils based on hydrocrack oils.

Additin 2317
Additin RC 2317 is a light-coloured, near odourless, low viscosity sulphur carrier. It is used for manufacturing metalworking fluids for cutting operations.
Due to its low viscosity Additin RC 2317 is ideally suited for formulating metalworking fluids such as deep hole drilling and honing oils from which an excellent flushing effect is required. By virtue of specially selected raw material Additin RC 2317 exhibits a very low pourpoint and extended solubility in various base fluids compared to conventional sulphur carriers. Therefore Additin RC 2317 is ideally suited for metalworking oils based on hydrocrack oils.
The performance of metalworking fluids containing Additin RC 2317 can be increased by combination with zinc dithiophosphates, e.g. Additin RC 3038, phosphoric acid partial esters or ashless phosphorus-sulphur additives e.g. RC 3880.

Additin RC 2411
Additin RC 2411 is a light-coloured, very inactive sulphur carrier with excellent EP and AW properties. Due to its special production process Additin RC 2411 is especially suitable for the formulation of  metalworking fluids for working of nonferrous metals and aluminum alloys.By virtue of specially selected raw materials Additin RC 2411 exhibits a high lubricity and good friction modifying properties.

Additin RC 2415
Additin RC 2415 is a light-coloured, near odourless sulphur carrier with a medium active sulphur content of approx. 5 % by weight. Additin RC 2415 enables metalworking fluids to meet high EP requirements. In order to obtain long tool live and high workpiece quality a combination of Additin RC 2415 with antiwear additives such as Additin RC 3180 or RC 3740 is useful.

Additin RC 2418
Additin RC 2418 is a light-coloured sulphur carrier with excellent EP properties and very high reactivity. In combination with antiwear additives it can be used universally for metalworking fluids. It is particularly designed for formulating heavy duty metalworking fluids.

Additin RC 2515
Additin RC 2515 is a nearly odourless, light-coloured sulphur carrier.
Due to its outstanding EP properties and low activity against nonferrous metal.
Additin RC 2515 is ideally suited for formulating heavy metal-free EP greases and slideway oils with good anti-stick-slip behaviour.
In order to improve the overall performance of the EP grease or slideway oil formulation the addition of antioxidants such as Additin RC 7110 and/or Additin RC 7135 with anticorrosion additives, e.g. Additin RC 4220, is recommended.

Additin RC 2526
Additin RC 2526 is a light-coloured, high-performance sulphur carrier with very low odour that is used to formulate metalworking oils and EP emulsions for heavy duty cutting and forming operations. It can be used in a much wider range of applications than chlorinated paraffines and sulphur carriers with a similar sulphur content. It is suitable for forming processes involving small relative movements (e.g. deep drawing operations) as well as for high-speed cutting processes such as deep hole drilling, milling and broaching. In the presence of yellow metals the additional use of a suitable inhibitor such as Additin RC 8210 is required.

Additin RC 2540
The use of Additin RC 2540 is a good alternative to the sulphurization of base oils with elementary sulphur.
In addition, Additin RC 2540 shows with increasing temperatures a steadily increasing active sulphur level (up to max. 38 %) resulting in an effective EP activity at only slightly elevated temperatures (50 to 60 °C).
Additin RC 2540 can be successfully combined with other sulphur carriers such as Additin RC 2415 in order to increase EP activity.
The antiwear effect is improved by combination of Additin RC 2540 with zinc dithiophosphates, e.g. Additin RC 3038, phosphoric acid partial esters or ashless phosphorus-sulphur additives e.g. RC 3880

EP addditves, dark coloured
Additin RC 2811

Additin RC 2811 is a dark-coloured sulphur carrier. It is mainly used in metalworking fluids and EP greases. Due to its low active sulphur content, Additin RC 2811 is also suitable for use with yellow metals. Optimum performance of the finished formulation can be obtained by combination with zinc dithiophosphates, e.g. Additin RC 3038.

Additin RC 2818
Additin RC 2818 is used in the manufacture of metalworking fluids for cutting operations. It is particularly useful where a specific viscositiy limit of the metalworking fluid must not be exceeded (honing oils, deep hole drilling oils). In order to increase the performance Additin RC 2818 can be combined with zinc dithiophosphates such as Additin RC 2818 or phosphoric acid partial esters.

Additin RC 2911
Additin RC 2911 is a dark-coloured sulphur carrier. It is mainly used in metalworking fluids and EP greases. Due to its low active sulphur content, Additin RC 2911 is also suitable for use with yellow metals. Optimum performance of the finished formulation can be obtained by combination with anti-wear additives such as RC 3038, RC 3880 or RC 3740.

Additin 2317

Additin 2317

Additin RC 2540

Additin RC 5250
Additin RC 5250 in water-based systems displays multifunctional properties: EP-performance, lubricity, corrosion inhibition and co-emulsification.
Additin RC 5250 is emulsifiable in water by neutralization with inorganic alkalizing agents or alkanolamines. Using tap water with high hardness, a well-balanced combination with Calcium dispersants is necessary.
Additin RC 5250 increases the EP-performance and lubricity during the machining of steel and light metals. A synergistic EP-performance can be achieved in emulsifiable or semi synthetic MWF in combination with Additin RC 2526 or Additin RC 2540.
Furthermore Additin RC 5250 is an alternative to tall oil fatty acids.
