    Surfactants

    Surfactants in coatings are compounds designed to modify the surface tension properties of the coating formulation. These molecules typically consist of a hydrophilic ("water-loving") head and a hydrophobic ("water-repelling") tail. When added to coatings, surfactants help to reduce the surface tension of the liquid, enabling it to spread more evenly over the substrate surface. Additionally, surfactants can assist in stabilizing emulsions and dispersions within the coating formulation, preventing ingredients from separating or settling out over time. Overall, surfactants play a crucial role in optimizing the application and performance of coatings across various industries, from paints and varnishes to adhesives and sealants.
